A day ago I have updated from 16.04 version and in new system install IDEs, that I need(PyCharm, WebStorm).

So both of them have the same installation process. But when WebStorm is running, I can right click on its icon on the left bar (Ubuntu dock), and press button "add to favorites", and it is always there(the same way with many other applications), and this way I was always used in 16.04 version.

But at the same time, I can not add PyCharm's icon this way, when I right-click on its icon in the left bar, I see only entries "windows" and "terminate" (Indeed I have Russian equivalent titles), that means list of opened windows, and termination signal respectively as actual behavior is.

So how can I solve this issue and add PyCharm icon in an easy way without working with config files?

  • @pomsky, yep, I did not. Maybe I really should ask about this problem there. But all methods are not working for me. Method 1 because of the key issue of my post, the second method is not working because I can't find(means that there is no such application) in the activities list. – Валерий Герасимов Dec 29 '18 at 10:10
  • In that case you need to create a custom .desktop launcher for the application first in ~/.local/share/applications, refer to this and this. – pomsky Dec 29 '18 at 10:56
