I want to connect my TV to my laptop. When I connect I am able to see the TV in the standard monitor application in Xubuntu. The TV screen is however blue (no signal).

To check if the cable is OK, I connected another laptop with Windows and it is fine.

In a terminal I checked with xrandr and there I am getting a signal from, in my case, HDMI-1 and offcourse LVDS-1. With the command

xrandr --output LVDS-1 --right-of HDMI-1

the laptop screens reacts with a splitted screen. However the screen is still blue. I searched on the internet to change de xorg files, but I am not understanding completely how to do this. I am pointed to the following folder:

/usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d

Others have managed to edit something here? Code to add here would be:

Section "Monitor"

Identifier "VGA1"

Option "Primary" "true"

EndSection

Section "Monitor"

Identifier "HDMI1"

Option "LeftOf" "VGA1"

EndSection

I thought to change something in

/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d but this file doesn't seem to exist anymore in current Ubuntu.

With the command I searched the system:

locate xorg.conf.d | grep d$

which pointed only to the previous mentioned destination in /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d

Summary: I am a bit lost over here. Could someone give a direction to find a solution? Thanks.
