I bought i new Msi laptop with i5-8300H , nvidia gtx 1060 , 16 gb ram , 1tb HDD+256 gb SSd, it came with freeDOS , so instead of paying to buy windows , i decided to start learning linux , and install it on my laptop, so after following instructions with bootable usb etc, while installing linux 16.04LTS(not 18.04LTS , because it freezed everytime) , it showed me an error , with something related to \sda , and it gave 3 options(continue, choose another drive, and cancel), but no clicks were responsive on that menu , but at the top right i could access the menu and shut down my pc , so i did. After reboot, when i wanted to choose my usb to boot my pc with , the option went away , so i formatted the usb and burnt again the same version , but nothing would show up , do you guys have any idea about what happened and how to fix it ? thank you .

If that new you probably need 18.04 and resolve that issue. With nVidia, you will need nomodeset to boot installer & first boot or until you install nVidia driver from Ubuntu repository. Are you install in UEFI boot mode? How you boot install media is then how it installs. • I have a Dell that includes a hard disk and motherboard for which16.04 did not include drivers. It was necessary for me to run 18.04. If I were you, I'd try 18.10. For my Dell Precision 5510, it has been quite a bit better on battery. – pauljohn32 Dec 7 at 4:26
