Basically what I want is to boot the computer to the command line without lightdm (I turned off lightdm) and I want the computer to automatically login to the command line automatically with the username as chosen.

I've tried several methods using the file /etc/init/tty1.conf

One of them was this

exec /bin/login -f username < /dev/tty1 > /dev/tty1 2>&1

another was

exec /sbin/getty --autologin username -8 38400 tty1

a third one was with mingetty

exec /sbin/mingetty --autologin username --noclear tty1

and so far none of these have worked. What I wanted to know is if I'm using the correct directory for this call, I did create this file tty1.conf and maybe it's in the wrong location.

Otherwise the commands don't seem to work even though I've checked for getty and installed mingetty.
