I've been looking for this for a long time but still I can't get it work.

I tried using Jayatana and activate it in idea.properties like this:

And installing appmenu-gtk-module, appmenu-gtk2-module, appmenu-gtk3-module but it didn't work.

Did anyone make it work?!

    I've been trying to find a solution myself. I'm running under Manjaro with Plasma 5.14.1. I came across this bug report on the JetBrains issue tracker from two years ago, asking for KDE Global Menu support in Ubuntu. It was last updated two weeks ago at the time of writing, and claims to be fixed, though many are still suffering from this issue. – Eamonn Oct 21 '18 at 12:02
  • I have the last version of intellij and still with no Global Menu. Did you made it work @Eamonn? – Buntupana Oct 22 '18 at 9:42
  • So it suppose to be fixed in build 183.3459. Last stable build is 182.4892.20. Finger crossed – Buntupana Oct 22 '18 at 9:51

KDE Global Menu it's been integrated in Intellij from build 183.3459 and above. At the time I'm writing is available in the early access version. It's working out of the box, no need to add any line to the config files. I didn't test if it need Jayatana for working.

Global Menu in Intellij

Newest version of Android Studio at the moment is 3.4 Canary 1 based in build 182.4505.22 so I guess is gonna take a while to have Global Menu in a stable version.

--UPDATE 1--

Jayatana is not necessary to have the global menu

--UPDATE 2--

Build 183.4284 has been released as stable but the there isn't KDE Global Menu, they pulled back the fix for some reason.

--UPDATE 3--

The KDE Global Menu is working in the build 183.4284 but it needs to be activated in experimental features that can be accessed via

Help -> Find action -> Experimental features -> linux.native.menu -> Restart IDE

Here the issue track link

--UPDATE 4--

Global Menu doesn't work in Android Studio based in new versions of Intellij.
