I have an Ubuntu 18.04 installation that I have been upgrading from LTS to LTS since 12.04 (and it works!) I use mostly Xfce and KDE, but sometimes I log into the default Ubuntu desktop (previously Unity, now a customized Gnome).

Now that Unity is not maintained anymore and Gnome doesn't use Compiz, can I uninstall everything related to Compiz safely?

(I tried uninstalling lightdm too, but it seems my Xubuntu desktop depends on it so I left it alone).
