Can you sftp to localhost?

Can you do this sftp xtydp where xtydp is the localhost or the result hostname I get the error

couldn't read the packet :Connection reset by peer

So can it be only used to connect to remote server ???

Yes, you can use sftp on any address, including localhost. However, you need to have any SSH server installed on the computer you want to access (i.e. the openssh-server package)

Can you test with ping xtydp and/or ping localhost that the host name is being resolved correctly to the device IP?

yes I am able to ping with 0% packetloss but why is this not working
