I'm running Lubuntu 16.04.05 on a desktop with an Nvidia GeForce GT730 with an extended desktop (VGA primary, HDMI secondary).

Runs flawlessly for me 99.9% of the time, however when a Kernel upgrade comes around, it hangs halfway through and eventually crashes and kills the power. Every time.

I can only resolve the situation by unplugging the HDMI display and continuing the updates from console. That wouldn't ordinarily be a big problem, just a hassle, but other people use this desktop as well and they do not have the knowledge needed to resolve the problem.

Since everything seems to work fine from console, is there anyway I could make Lubuntu install my updates in console next time the system reboots prior to LXDE kicking in?
