When I touch the icons on the sidebar, using a touchscreen (shown with big arrows in the picture below) enter image description here

they do not open, and add the app to 'my favourites' on the sidebar. After searching for a solution to this problem I found a bug report on this issue here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell-extension-ubuntu-dock/+bug/1725384 Apparently touches here register as multiple touches and don't open the apps correctly.

However, the proposed solution, using the command:

gnome-session --replace

fixes this issue but prevents me from logging on after the lock screen as it won't let me input my password, it acts as if I am holding down the enter key.
