I am running Ubuntu 18.04. My disks are encrypted. I used the Software & Updates program to install a proprietary Nvidia driver because I wanted to try PGI CUDA Fortran that does not work with the Nouveau driver.

I am using an Nvidia K620. Now, I cannot unlock my startup drive when I restart the machine. I am unable to enter the password for the drive because the graphics are not working. How do I revert back to the original Nouveau driver when I cannot enter commands? If I could enter commands, I would try the following:

sudo apt purge nvidia-*
sudo apt autoremove
