After loading, the Software Center closed. I've tried

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade

and then the suggestions on these links

Ubuntu Software (Software Center) Crash - Ubuntu 16.04

Ubuntu 16.04 software center not working

Nothing solved the problem. Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

  • sudo apt autoclean && sudo apt autoremove, rm ~/.local/share/gnome-software/* – swingcake Jul 4 '18 at 13:11
  • Don't use it. It's been buggy from the off and still is. Use sudo apt-get, or Software Updater or Synaptic to download software. If you want to see what programs are already installed, explore /usr/share/applications and bookmark it to the Launcher so you have instant access. Or use command: xdg-open /usr/share/applications. – Paul Benson Jul 4 '18 at 14:25
