I got an instance of bugzilla up and running, but it is horribly slow. I followed the email config directions here using my gmail account.

I noticed immediately that the performance was horribly slow. I had another app running on the server that used mysql, and there was no performance issue there, so my theory was that it was related to the email config.

I tried numerous things (I do not have postfix setup), such as shutting the mail_delivery_method to none (as opposed to smtp or sendmail), and that helped a little, but still any link takes on the order of one-one-thousand, two-one-thousand...six-one-thousand before it gets there.

In the logs I saw many instances of this error:

[Tue Jun 19 09:15:46 2018] index.cgi:   (in cleanup) Can't locate
object method "DESTROY" via package "Bugzilla::CGI" at Bugzilla/CGI.pm
line 61 during global destruction.
[Tue Jun 19 09:15:52 2018] buglist.cgi: CGI::param called in list
context from Bugzilla/CGI.pm line 317, this can lead to
vulnerabilities. See the warning in "Fetching the value or values of a
single named parameter" at /usr/share/perl5/CGI.pm line 405.

I also saw this:

Net::SMTP>>> Net::SMTP(3.05)
Net::SMTP>>>   Net::Cmd(3.05)
Net::SMTP>>>     Exporter(5.72)
Net::SMTP>>>   IO::Socket::IP(0.37)
Net::SMTP>>>     IO::Socket(1.38)
Net::SMTP>>>       IO::Handle(1.35)

Any idea about how to speed it up?
