I just upgraded to 18.04 from 16.04.4 and am running into the same issue I had. Before, once booted, I have my media server set to auto login, the resolution would be 1920*1080, but as my display is a 55" TV, the outer edges would be clipped. I always had to change the resolution to something else and revert back to get it to display the entire screen without being clipped. Is there a way I can tweak when the resolution is applied, or force it to refresh so I don't have to do this process on every boot?
