I am working with Ubuntu 16.04 on a Thinkpad T450s.

I am working in the KDE Plasma Desktop setup and things work nicely when I just use the laptop. At work, I have a docking station with two connected screens. I managed to configure the setup when the laptop lid is open in the docking station. However, when the lid is closed, right after login on startup Plasma switches to a display mode with either a complete blank screen or a (Gnome like, not Plasma like) Desktop background with mouse, but no menu, icons etc. Right-clicking with the mouse, opening a terminal or sth similar does not work then unfortunately. I tried to reinstall several things, from xserver , plasma-desktop to kubuntu-desktop (all with purge to remove config) files, did "dconf reset -f / " but nothing seems to work. Does anyone have an idea how to make the current setup (two external screens used, laptop screen not used) work when the laptop lid is closed?
