My Brother ADS-1600w scanner suddenly stopped working in network mode, for no apparent reason other than wifi trouble. I tried reinstalling the drivers from the Brother website. It works with USB cable but not on wifi. Can someone guide me to solve the issue? I am on a Dell XPS-13 with Ubuntu 16.04. Thank you so much.

Update: I figured the problem had to do with the IP address. After manually editing it (using the instructions here: https://redoem.com/2015/07/28/add-or-modify-the-ip-address-for-wireless-printer-brother-mfc-j6920dw-in-linux/), I can now successfully ping the scanner (brsaneconfig4 -p) and start a wireless scan job, but the Simple Scan programme crashes.

Can anyone advise me how to move forward? Thank you.
