I just get a new Ubuntu virtual machine (14.04) from Here

and one of the first things I tried to do was to install the JDK 8, starting to add the PPA repo:

sudo add-apt-repository -y ppa:webupd8team/java

It seems a simple Thing but it turne in a nightmare. I got all the time the error:

Cannot add PPA: 'ppa:~webupd8team/ubuntu/java'. ERROR: '~webupd8team' user or team does not exist

This is an incorrect error, I manage to track the source of it, which is:

/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/softwareproperties/ppa.py

and added a print in the expeption print("the Error:" + str(e) + " " + str(lp_url)) what help to understand a bit better the issue. Now the error includes:

the Error:<urlopen error [SSL: CERTIFICATE_VERIFY_FAILED] certificate
verify failed (_ssl.c:645)> https://launchpad.net/api/1.0/~webupd8team

My question is: How can I ignore the SSL certificate or how can I bypass it? I am lost here, no idea why I can't add any ppa repo.

Firefox also compains about SSL certificates, but once I add it (then I can proceed and see the page content)

Note: Internet connections works well, and I do not have any proxy.
