This is baffling the hell out of me. I have a server (s5400SF) with an Intel Raid Controller 2. I have set up a RAID 0 RAID between 2 2TB drives.

I am trying to install Ubuntu 16.04 on it, during the installation it detects MDADM raid device, then ATA Raid device. So when I get to partition it (shows up as 4TB) it says next to it Software Raid? Why is that?

So I continue with guided installation (makes swap, bios2 etc) it fails because it can't install GRUB?

What am I missing here? I did read software raids can go really wrong but I have set up a hardware raid?
