I have installed several genomics packages via commands like: sudo apt install tophat. However, I need other packages such as cufflinks that the apt command does not seem to find via the sources.list. Please tell me how I might be able to add the necessary location information for cufflinks to the appropriate Ubuntu sources.list repository so that apt will find it. Clues: multiverse, artful -- probably have something to do with it. I can provide the location information but need to know how and where to add it.

  • This question will help if the packages are held in the Ubuntu repositories in a section that you've not enabled, such as multiverse askubuntu.com/q/89096/320386. – Arronical Feb 15 '18 at 14:57
  • @Arronical I already closed this as a dupe of that because it's the same question ;) – Thomas Ward Feb 15 '18 at 15:00
  • Only refreshed once I'd finished commenting and went to click to flag as dupe. Reassuring that I chose the correct dupe though! – Arronical Feb 15 '18 at 15:16
  • Sorry, the question you refer to as dupe does not answer my question. Let me try more directly: How do I get cufflinks via the sudo apt command? If it is in a certain repository, let me know. Otherwise, who can I contact to add it ? – JRR Feb 16 '18 at 16:01
  • @JRR did you get to know about that repository thing?? – Ubdus Samad Jan 11 at 12:10
