The problem is specific as in title, so let me demonstrate my problem.

I could have sounds from Opera in my computer. Sometimes, I plug it into my Smart TV and have sound and screen from there (manually, by opening sound settings and setting HDMI as default sound output).

Yesterday, I plugged out and tried to open a Youtube video, yet I could not hear anything. I tested sound and I could hear test sound from my computer. And I tested in Firefox and sound works like a charm, that means it is not a problem of driver (or I assume so).

Additional Information

I have dual boot. When I am on Windows (10), I manually switch from speakers to headphones or vice versa. My system information will be at the very bottom.

I had the same problem and solved it doing this: In the "sound settings" I went to the applications tab in the right. There I changed a couple of things (don't remember exactly which ones) like volume, checked and unchecked the mute option and sound came back. My opera version is 42.0.2393.137. Hope this work for you too!
