I am a computer network engineer by training that started in the days of Novell NetWare 3.x. I now run an Internet service provider called Snowball Effect that I started with my brother Storm in 1998. Snowball specialises in wireless, hosting, and ADSL. Storm heads our web development team. Our offices are based in Technopark, Stellenbosch (close to Cape Town) South Africa where we also have a fully redundant data centre that we built from scratch.

My speciality apart from computer networking is business management especially operations. I have a intense undying passion for programming that started when I first laid my hands on a ZX-81. I am well versed in PHP and MySQL and I am enjoying learning Android. I am currently working on an app that I hope to launch by end 2012.

Stellenbosch is beautiful wine country in South Africa. Here are my favourite wine estates as of 8 Jan 2012: Glen Elly, Delheim, Muraie, Dornier, Ken Forrester, Meerlust, Thelema, Camberley, Jordan Wines, Thelema.

I see myself as ADD and BC. Before, I was ADD and now I am BC. My world changed when I discovered Basecamp.

comment How does one create a custom application launcher for Wine installed apps?
I'm struggling with this method on Ubuntu 13.10. The problem is that when I launch alacarte it appears but I am unable to move (or create) any new items. Also, it doesn't seem to be installed by default, I had to do apt-get install alacarte.

You should look at how the files are infected. If the files are infected in exactly the same way, for example, if exactly the same string has been appended to existing files, you might be able to use Linux command line to remove extraneous information from the back of the files. Restoring a backup will only work if you caught the problem before your oldest backup. If the problem exists before then restoring a backup will be useless.
