comment iptables rules not dropping IPs
Quite common if you've been looking at something for too long :) Good luck!

comment Find outr which IPs are from program and which IPs are from addons
@GuyHarris Actually I meant stracing the vmplayer process, not using strace for Windows. But since you mentioned it, I thought: I don't really know how vmware emulates network access. I assumed that it translates network calls made by guest OS to the host OS system calls, which I thought strace would be able to intercept. Is this not how this works?

It's also quite easy in Turbo Pascal.

comment How to redirect URL:PORT traffic to multiple external IP:Port?
I think clarifying the reason why you want to do this would help suggest an appropriate solution to your task. Is it for redundancy, high-availability, etc.? Perhaps a reverse proxy webserver would be better suited for the task?

comment Find outr which IPs are from program and which IPs are from addons
I think there's a small typo in the comment above - it should probably read: "There's no automated way to achieve this that I'm aware of" :)

comment Monitor visited websites of guest account through any browser
@ByteCommander I think you might have forgotten you asked me to move this answer from below question #699539 to this very question. Either way, moving on since it seems people prefer using a hammer to install a screw :)

comment AppArmor blocks logging set up through iptables for guest account - How to enable?
As per the OP's request - I've moved my answer to the linked question. I originally added it here, since this question isn't related to the resolution of the original problem. IP/TCP packet level information is not the place to look for URLs.

Is this the RAW format that Canon DSLRs use or the Nikon ones?

comment Monitor visited websites of guest account through any browser
All suggestions here miss the point that URLs are part of the application layer and to propose solving this on just IP/TCP layer doesn't have much in common with what's being asked here.

That's very kind of you - thanks!

comment Determinate if a file is already opened
Hah, did you not see me cringe while I was writing that? :) That's exactly what I thought when I asked for a use-case since jumping through such hoops is probably completely avoidable.

comment How to bypass and allow particular sites from squid to iptables
Please update your question instead of adding this as a comment if you can to preserve formatting. And BTW - these are not rules - these are commands. Rules are listed for instance with iptables -vL INPUT -n; iptables -t nat -vL -n

Could you update your answer with this output so that formatting is preserved?

comment Delete a file, from a USB ubuntu boot
Glad you sorted this out. @Jamie - I noticed something you might have missed earlier and thought I'd mention it, so that you don't do it in the future :) sudo echo -n > /some/file - you do realise that only echo will be run as root and the STDOUT of that echo command will be redirected to the /some/file BUT: as your regular user, which may or may not have permissions to write to that file? Good example: sudo echo blah > /etc/somefile

comment SPAMHaus/ CBL Blocking List:: UNIX System (Firewall)
You didn't provide any information that could help us help you. Please define what you mean by 'blocking us'. RBLs can block IPs, subnets, etc. Does it block your public IP address? What's using this IP address, who do you share it with, what services do you have enabled to be accessed on this IP address, and other answers would be helpful here.

comment lvm reporting wrong size after gparted expansion - Ubuntu 14.01
I can't see any attachments - maybe just show the configuration of your volume group, logical volumes, partitioning and free space instead of a screenshot. You could indicate what you currently have and what was your expected result.

comment Determinate if a file is already opened
In addition to what others have written above, I suggest that you also let us know what exactly is your use case. This would allow us to better understand the problem and either help you get what you need or suggest a more suitable solution.

Bonding is something completely unrelated to what you're trying to achieve, given the details.

comment WD Passport external HD connected but not recognized
Run dmesg | tail -30 a few seconds after you connect the external disk. Post the output. This will allow us to see if the kernel recognises the disk at all. You can also install smartmontools: sudo aptitude install smartmontools and run: sudo smartctl --scan and then post the output as well. If your disk is shown in the above command's output, run: sudo smartctl -d <type_shown_above> /dev/sdX -a and as usual, post the output.

comment Port forwarding to local server
I've updated my answer. Also in your case the iptables command was a bit redundant, since your INPUT chain already has a default policy of ACCEPT and no DROP or REJECT rules, so effectively everything's allowed.
