Try using aptitude in place of apt-get - it has some more sophisticated conflict/dependency resolution methods. I'd stick with installing network-manager package first.

Again - the tag is called 'scripts' but its description is written if the only type of script is a shell script. Moreover previous version listed Perl as type of a shell script which is plain wrong. Why not deduplicate tags scripting and scripts? It seems that having both is simply useless.

Scripting is an activity, not a series of commands. Saying that the shell interprets the script isn't correct. Shell isn't the only interpreter.
