How to upgrade kile2.1 beta 4 to kile-2.1.3 in ubuntu 11.04? There is a Ubuntu Stackexchange sister site askubuntu.org which is better suited for questions about installing and updating Ubuntu packages. (The exeption is (La)TeX, e.g. TeXLive, itself) |

Disable notifications about new spam emails with indicator app / thunderbird @MarkRooney: It works, but then I only have notifications about mails in the main Inbox. I sort some mails in sub-folders on the server. However, there seems to be no option to specify specific folders in thunderbird. I guess this can be closed as dup after all. |

Installed Ubuntu 11.10, and networking constantly fails Changed fixed kernel release to `uname -r`. Removed `shutdown` line for saver cut & paste. |

Volume and other indicators disappeared in the classic desktop ALT+Win+Right Click? Why did they change this from a simple right click or made it something easy like CTRL+Right Click. I was under the impression that "Add to Panel" was gone for good. |

Remove documentation to save hard drive space I was not aware that the directory names under /usr/share/doc are the packages names. At least of some this seems to be true. I used du -sc * | sort -n in /usr/share/doc. Most space was taken from the TeX Live 2009 documentation files which I don't want anyway, because I have the manually installed TL 2011 ones. Thanks, while I still like to see if there is a way to tell apt-get to get ride of most documentation, this solution worked out fine for this case. |

How do I set PATH variables for all users on a server? @frabjous: The symlink option seems to be now missing from the installer. I installed TeXLive 2011 today and could find it anymore. I installed TeXLive in multiple versions at least a dozen times before, so I wondered why it isn't there anymore. |

Higher screen resolution for VirtualBox? Thanks. This did it for me as well. |
