comment phpmyadmin: unable to connect to 127.0.0.1
LAMP Does install Apache, MySQL and PHP. By adding the "P" after "lampP" does mean that you already installed PHPMyAdmin? If you didn't it will be useful if you let us know. The solution in the question you refer seems to be for systems which have already installed phpmyadmin, after which you can reach it via localhost/phpmyadmin

comment How to batch process JPG images to change its quality with Nautilus-Actions?
I dropped my comment (probably) at the moment you was writing your. You're right. The images are compressed enough and doing this is not helping for highly compressed images. My fault. It works like a charm with high definition Images, providing a compressed file for 529.5 kB (529 457 bytes) from an original with 2.6 MB (2 601 524 bytes) file size. Thank you very much for your support, my friend!

I've added a gif animation for you to see what happen if I "reduce" the images to be 30% of the original size. Thank you!

Thank you very much for your answer, muru! It partially does what I expect. More specifically it solves the file names problem. Nevertheless, I also expected to get smaller file sizes by running the proper convert file.jpg -quality 30% command and it is dropping bigger file sizes. Do you thing there's something else I should add to the parameters? I appreciate a lot your efforts to provide help on this issue.

comment I have an apple mac
The "General Idea" (as mentioned by @Rinzwind) may not work on every case. I know it because of it happened to me once or twice. So I strongly suggest you to have a look at similar answers in this place by running a search with the words: "install on mac" (askubuntu.com/search?q=install+on+mac) in order to know what have other users experienced in the past and be ready to find help if some of these symptoms appear during your install process. Good luck!

Please let us know what have you tried so far and also let us know if bringing back the normal (UEFI) mode did result in something useful. Good luck!

Your problem seems to be related to the change on your UEFI. If you set "Legacy" mode on your BIOS, then Win8[.1] won't boot anymore unless you bring back the normal (UEFI) mode. Have you tried this? This will -of course- prevent Ubuntu from booting but it may allow you to use the startup repair of your Windows installation. There is a particular requirements for installing Ubuntu in UEFI mode which you can read here help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/UEFI-and-BIOS and/or watch on videos like this: youtube.com/watch?v=fE8XvuhyaaA (additional support are in the comments)

comment Very slow, intermittent WiFi speeds with 14.04 and Intel PRO/Wireless 5100 AGN [Shiloh]
Hello @Tim, first of all: "i3WM" is a Window Manager called "i3". More information in this link: i3wm.org, for what is about your connection problem. It should provide some help, how much? We can't say for sure. But I can say you that, after updating the whole system a couple of times the disconnection problems are gone from my equipment. You should try updating and -why not?- doing this solution. It won't harm your computer. The most you will need to do this on every boot or -as I did- use the crontab in order to do it for you. Good luck!

comment How do I Make a Personal Cloud Storage on Ubuntu?
Have you used Dropbox before? OwnCloud It's a Sync-like service. It will sync all your local files (in a defined set of folders) in your server, so if -for example- your computer breaks, you can simply repair it and bring back your synced stuff back with ease. You can also gain access to the files via webdav and other services such as calendar via caldav and even share files/folders internally (in your own server) or drop links to gain access to your stuff from outside your LAN.

Changing the process of whatever the Software did before seems like someone is inviting us to evolve with the upgrades. It's on ourselves to choose whether to accept the challenge or not. Good luck on whatever you choose, my friend!

Providing further information on your hardware brand name and model will result in better answers and avoiding your question from being closed. I find interesting the questions related to compatibility but -somehow- it is against the rules or something. So, if you wish better answers please provide the details and if possible, include the hardware id as shown in your favorite operating system hardware details.
