I'm a geek who loves Linux. I do my best to help other Linux users, but oftentimes, I'm the one who needs help.

My personal favorite software:

  • Pale Moon (A Firefox fork with a purpose)
  • VLC (Good media player, easy-to-use but decently powerful)
  • XFCE (Desktop environment, decently lightweight but with a great user-experience)
  • 7-Zip (Archiving program with better compression)

I recommend Linux Mint XFCE edition, Ubuntu, or Xubuntu for those interested in getting started with Linux.

ha ha, 7 edits and not one person noticed the word "fun" instead of "run". Also fixed a grammar error.

comment Firefox “clone” for Ubuntu
@cipricus Umm, I use both Firefox Nightly and the "normal" build side-by-side, and I can tell you, as a fact, that, unless you've intentionally merged the config directories, they're going to have separate profiles. If you run ls ~.mozilla, you'll see that firefox and firefox-trunk are different directories.

@AndrejsCainikovs I'll be very happy to oblige with any logfiles needed. Just tell me what you need, and I'll Pastebin it and post it here. As of now, the output of ssh -vvv pi@192.168.2.128 is exactly as appears here: pastebin.com/Nc1W8Mja

@MeerBorg I'm already a user there, and I actually considered asking this there, BUT Ubuntu is the only one having issues connecting. If I couldn't connect via any method, I'd suspect an issue with the Pi itself, but since Ubuntu is the odd one out here, I made the decision to ask it on this site.

HTTP(S) connections are also not available locally, BUT I noticed that Ubuntu can connect to my external IP.

There's really nothing interesting, just a "connection refused" message: pastebin.com/Nc1W8Mja

Hey... another good DNS provider is Google's DNS - they don't screw up nxdomain like OpenDNS does. Primary server is 8.8.8.8 secondary 8.8.4.4.

Hey, if I fixed it, I would appreciate it a lot if you'd click the green checkmark to the left of my answer. This marks your problem as solved, which makes it easier for new users to get help with their Ubuntu issues, also I get some Reputation as a reward for being so helpful (also, you get a little reputation ;)
