Absolutely sure, I used the same password for everything. I even just tried other variations (like caps variations just in case I didn't notice the caps lock was on)

I did and got down to the 3rd line without a problem, until after mysqladmin -u root password your-new-password (with "your-new-password" substituted with my actual password, ofc) at which point I received the output: mysqladmin: connect to server at 'localhost' failed error: 'Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)'

The next line (mysql -u root) produced this output: ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO) [3] Exit 1 sudo /usr/sbin/mysqld --skip-grant-tables --skip-networking

It was. Albeit, I am grateful he/she reopened my question at least, unlike that other moderator that just closed it without a second thought.

It's a code I'm meant to put in an xml file I think and save it somewhere so as to get BKChem to follow ACS settings. I'd like to know how to do this.

So is the nano password part of the text file? If so I'd like to suggest you edit it accordingly, as the way it is now it's a little confusing.

How and where do I create the text file? If you can't comment then just edit your answer accordingly.

I had to click "ignore" to this error. As it kept on asking me to retry I did and it didn't work. All these how-tos are piling up it seems, I just want some straight command line code to copy and paste into terminal.

No, I used my password. I use the same password for everything on my PC, so that can't be it.

I'm a total noob when it comes to these things so I need better explanations (step-by-step command-line instructions would be helpful) than this one you showed me.

I also got an error in the previous line: ` CREATE DATABASE wordpress;` too: ERROR 1064 (42000): You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'mysql -u root -p CREATE DATABASE wordpress' at line 1

Nvm I found the answer; I was using WordPress.com which is the only one available in the software centre I should be using the WordPress.org as it's the one with plugins.

I thought it could be relevant as I've looked everywhere, including where your link told me to look, and I can't find it. Hence, as it seems I'm the only experiencing this trouble it could be related to me using Ubuntu as most WordPress users use either Mac or Windows.
