To install in 12.04: sudo apt-get install gnome-session-fallback. Then log out, and select it from the login screen.

That git repository is kept to 3.2.0 specifically; it follows what's in Ubuntu Precise (12.04). If you want a different version change ubuntu-precise.git to ubuntu-quantal.git or whatever. It should be fine to just copy into usr/src.

A graphical way to turn apport on and off is gksudo xdiagnose; i'ts the third checkbox "Enable automatic crash bug reporting".

works fine for me. The third line will prompt you for sudo password so make sure to enter that.

@Zuul, also that command stops X only if using xdm, which is not the default display manager. The right command would be sudo service lightdm stop.

@Zuul, the script will certainly run inside an X session (I just did). Whether it clears the cache or not I didn't check.
