comment FATAL: Module usb-snd-audio not found
You should fine the module in /lib/modules/(VERSION)/kernel/sound/usb/. (And the title and the text of your question use different names; check the spelling.)

comment How to display ALSA raw MIDI connexions and devices?
There are indeed no clients or subscriptions. You could inspect the device files with fuser or lsof.

comment Control Alsa in real time with external controller?
That depends on what exactly you mean with "control ALSA". Do you want to change mixer controls?

comment Audio capture from multiple USB sound cards In Lubuntu
This will blow up if the devices aren't synchronized, and might exceed the USB bandwidth limits, but see How to get a NI Traktor Audio 2 sound card work with Mixxx.

comment Realtek HD Audio Driver failed to build
The problem is that your build system is using -Werror, but the Realtek package does not expect that. Apparently, the Realtek package is outdated. Please note that Realtek also puts their changes into the kernel drivers; if an update to the newest kernel does not help, the Rt-Linux-HDaudio package is unlikely to help either.

What do you mean with "Realtek" drivers? Something downloaded from the Realteak website, or drivers from Ubuntu for your sound chip?

comment ALSA Audio errors - Trusty
Some program or library (probably PortAudio) tries to open lots of possible sound devices, and does not suppress error messages for any that do not exist. This is not an actual problem.

Why are you mentioning the GPU? What is the output of amixer -c0 scontents?

comment Alsamixer cannot be found
cannot open mixer: implies that the file that is not found is the device file. Apparently, your sound driver is not loaded. Show the contents of /proc/asound/cards, and the lspci output of your sound devices.

Reinstalling should not be necessary. Can you leave out any of those steps?

comment Asus Xonar DGX recognized but no sound
It just means that lspci could not read some information because it was not run as root. Anyway, did you tell Ubuntu that you want to use the DGX, and not the GPU's HDMI output?
