Currently switching all home computers over to Ubuntu. Each machine presenting its own problems. Media player main problem is drive recognition and proprietary video drivers can't handle two screens (radeon driver works fairly well, though). Laptop problems to do with format translations from Windows tools to Linux tools (only .pub and OneNote remaining). Otherwise very much preferring Unity and Linux over any flavour of Windows I've ever used. Netbooks are working fine and are better at driving external displays than Windows ever was.

Issues installing qt5 & sdk for phone app Thanks for your reply, David, I suspected that might be the case. However, when I try to set the qt viewer I cannot find it at /opt/qt5/bin. Where should I look? TIA |

Connection Information is telling me what? I'm still in the process of testing but you've certainly answered my question. Much appreciated! |

Issues installing qt5 & sdk for phone app Just out of curiousity, where on the following linked page: Get the Ubuntu SDK preview does qt5 get installed? All I see is two new repositories and an install of the sdk and qml editor. |

How to install Python 3.3? @gertvdijk Are you aware that python 3.x and python 2.x are incompatible? If you were to point all your existing scripts at python 3.3 they'd probably break. Simply shebang your new python scripts as #! /opt/python3.3 and the correct interpreter will be addressed when you run it. |

How to install Evolution 3.6.2 from 13.04 into 12.10? Thank you very much for your help, which has proved successful. For anybody else taking this route here is what I had to do. I downloaded and built the *.debs as instructed in Josef's message. I then tried to follow the install instructions in The tarball listed above, but got an error. I then settled for a sudo dpkg -i *.deb which installed everything beautifully. |

How to install Evolution 3.6.2 from 13.04 into 12.10? Thanks for your pointers. One or two problems encountered. Most fundamental is that I'm on 64 bit so probably need the AMD64 version of those libraries. Having inadvertantly tried to install the .debs in your tarball, I had dependency issues reported on the gir1.2 installation - dependencies on gir-freedesktop for instance. Is there anywhere else I should be looking? TIA |
