comment setting LD_LIBRARY_PATH for CUDA
My understanding is that it fixes the problem in such a way that you do not need to set the path variable. So if "doesn't work" means the variable isn't set, then sure. If "doesn't work" means CUDA isn't working, then more information on your problem is needed as this enabled (and continues to enable) CUDA development on my setup.

Update for CUDA 6.0: This issue appears to be fixed for the 6.0 release candidate :). I installed the RC version using the deb provided by NVIDIA.
