I also don't want to have it use Nvidia all the time, the lifetime would be horrible then.

Can it be changed without restarting X server? As far as I know nvidia-prime requires that, and I really don't want to do it every time I need to run a programme with nvidia graphics...

Using quickly is definitely easier, then learning debian packaging! And it is not only that: quickly helps very much by creating a template of the app, so you don't have to do anything like using builder etc. by hand. It is of great help for programming by non-programmers like myself.
