comment USB sound interface problem
Further note - If I unplug the interface and plug it back in, I can see the output device in the system settings, but I still can't get sound. Makes me believe that something in the start up is not initializing the device. Any suggestions?

Basically, you need to google Windows boot loader. There is a command line app that you can use to add your Linux installation (and its location) so that when Windows loads, the first thing that will happen is you should get a choice of OS's to load. I don't know much about programming the boot loader. I was just explaining WHY you were unable to dual boot. (even though others decided that I needed to be voted down for it)

The answer is in his explanation of his process. He chosse to install along side of Windows, but he didn't install in the same place that Windows is. Grub makes a record of Windows, but grub is never laoded, the Windows boot loader is... which has no knowledge of Ubuntu.

comment Byobu not displaying correct CPU temptrature
To answer your first question, the bios always gives me an accurate reading... the inaccurate temps only happen in the OS. As far as why, that really isn't the point. I am just trying to find out why it's wrong, and more than that, how can I get an ACCURATE reading? - And finally, I need to monitor the tempt to ensure a stable overclock.... ;)

comment What are the executable names of MySQL client and Admin Application (GUI)?
As far as I know, there is no graphical interface built in (other than phpMyAdmin)... you need to install something 3rd party (MySQL Workbench is a pretty good choice)...

comment Is it possible to mount windows drive in Ubuntu and make it writeable?
That creates a share in Ubuntu that is accessible in Windows. I need a share in Windows that is accessible from Ubuntu.

Actually, I just tried that again and got a 'Permission denied' (running chmod as sudo, mind you) - There MUST be a way to do this... am I the only one that needs to mount a windows drive and can't?

comment Ubuntu 12.04 Virtual Box not reading disk?
I've tried a line in fstab, and it creates an error at startup. I have to ignore mounting to get Ubuntu to start up. I went to the startup console to check it out, and /dev/sda1 (the NTFS drive in question) is not there... for some reason that drive doesn't exist until about the time Ubuntu is fully booted. Pretty strange.

Actually, no. I just figured that out. There is nothing to automatically mount it, but it lists in nautalis, and will mount when I click on it. I guess I need to update the startup scripts to mount that drive.
