I first heard of ubuntu back in 2006 and first used it in 2009 on a cheap second-hand laptop (which still has 9.10 on it, nothing newer seems to install), the previous owner had installed Windows 7 Consumer preview on it, a laptop from 2004, so it didn't run to fast at all. I currently am hoping to move all my necessary needs to Linux and Open Source software and will be doing that with a new laptop, and moving away from proprietary nonsense in Windows and on my Mac. I think the thing I'm looking forward to the most is having an interface that can be run almost entirely using a keyboard unlike OS X which CAN'T be run without using a mouse 90% of the time.
