comment Command to get the hostname of remote server using IP address
In that case the first command should work. I have no idea why it doesn't. I'll add another option to my answer.

comment Command to get the hostname of remote server using IP address
Is the server in your local network or is it a public IP address?

In that case, try host.

comment How to set a text theme for plymouth?
Can you update your question with the output of sudo update-alternatives --list text.plymouth? Also, what is the value of GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT in /etc/default/grub?

It could be something like Menu --> Picture --> Advanced Picture --> HD Size and set it to 2.

Try to find overscan in your TV settings and turn it off. Can you edit your post with the exact model of TV you have?

comment Tweeter destroyed by ultra high volume. Any kind of protection?
In this case the best solution seems a hardware solution to me: a proper amplifier should prevent this from occurring.

This seems to be the case. If there was important data on there it might be wise to consult this page.

comment Is there an official torrent for 12.10?
@Daniel, you can get there, but it's easy to miss: near the bottom of this page there is a link titled 12.10 images and checksums which points to the linked page.

comment Headless music converter with filename based on tags
Album art can be extracted by adding the following to the script: mediainfo --Inform="General;%Cover_Data%" "$1" | base64 -d > "$OUTPUTBASE/$ALBUMARTIST/$ALBUM/AlbumArt.jpg". With this information my question is solved. Thanks again!

comment Headless music converter with filename based on tags
Thanks for your answer, you've helped a lot! I do have some small points however: 1) The package avconv doesn't exist, it should be libav-tools. 2) cvt should be $OUTPUTBASE. 3) This script doesn't output the albumart to AlbumArt.jpg as I would like, is this possible?

comment Headless music converter with filename based on tags
Let's say the initial soundtracks are located in /soundtracks/, each soundtrack in it's own sub-folder(s). The source files are not named in one specific manner (except for the .m4a part) so the only way to get things like {track number} is from the tags. The files I want to convert are all in the same format, but of course it would be nice if the script could convert from other formats as well.

comment Rename files by regexp in command line
This will replace every * anywhere in a file name (not only at the end). s/\\*$// or 's/\*$//' would probably work better.
