Primarily now a user of the excellent Xubuntu 12.04 LTS, but with a 12.10 test/development machine. I am also an experimenter with similar distros such as Mint, Debian, etc.
Looking to share knowledge and learn from other users regarding such topics as the command-line, photo-editing, bash scripting, etc.

Error when copying from Desktop to any other location @Abvgz I'll make an edit to the answer re how ClientCommands are sometimes numbered differently. If you reset all the ClientCommands and note which numbers (e.g. 3 and 4) refer to Thunar and xfdesktop, you could try the commands again but alter the number of the Client Command to match your system, then this time they would be applied to the right sections. |

Error when copying from Desktop to any other location @Abvgz it didn't affect xfce4-panel when I tested it as that should be Client1_Command. If you want to reset them you can click on the client command and click reset or use the commands at the end of the answer. Then logout and login again. |

Error when copying from Desktop to any other location Launch xfce4-settings-editor in terminal and go to xfce4-session, and it will list the session defaults and the Client_Commands. |

Error when copying from Desktop to any other location @Abvgz The panels shouldn't disappear. Can you look in xfce4-settings-editor in the xfce-session part and tell me what Client2_Command and CLient3_Command refer to, as they should refer to filemanager and desktopmanager. |

xfce4-session segfault, suspend and hibernate not working I think this usually happens on machines running 64 bit Ubuntu. An updated package hasn't been released yet, but the necessary patch is in git master for xfce4-session, so you could compile from there. Otherwise, probably best to use another desktop environment if you are doing critical work on your machine. |

What is the recomended application set for QA/tester's suite in Ubuntu? Official tools available are the ubuntu-dev-tools, but I don't know whether that's what you are looking for. |

How to run a bash .sh after starting a program in PlayOnLinux? Have you tried devilspie? IF you find the exact window or application name you should be able to perform many actions like maximising or positioning it, as I discuss in this answer. |
