That shows if it is actually mounted already or if the partition is detected in hibernation mode. If the latter applies, then doing the steps mentioned above will let you remove the hibernation phase and be able to mount and retrieve the files. Please let us know how it went. For the correct partition, I am giving an example, with the information provided I do not know which partition it is. I simply used sda1 as the example, but it could have been any before you found out which..

Hi friend, can you update your information with this "sudo lsblk -o NAME,FSTYPE,SIZE,MOUNTPOINT". That way we can know which partition is the one holding Windows by the TYPE column.

comment Upgrading to a no longer supported version
An idea would making a list of all installed packages with dpkg or synaptic and saving all conf files. That could save some time.

comment How to retrive root password, when someone has changed it?
There is no indication that this is about Ubuntu anywhere on the question. Furthermore this is more related to bypassing an actual security feature than solving an ubuntu problem.

This question appears to be off-topic because it is about bypassing security. There is no actual ubuntu problem.

You can then upgrade the current one you have to the latest by simply downloading the latest virtualbox. Then folllow up with the correct installation. Remember that you can NOT use an extension with any other virtualbox version than the one it mentions. The 4.3.16 will only work with the same one.

comment smbtree produces no output
@dln949 Depends if you are in a domain or workgroup. On the type of authentication, on how the network works and other factors. I normally do not explain that until the user tells me the network topology, domain type, client types, etc.. Too many answers when they use that many options.

comment 14.04 won't fully shut down laptop
Hi TheDunadan, thank your for the question but this is a bug. In your particular case it is VERY important you mention this bug following the bug reports step provided on the close message (The link of reported on launchpad". I mention this is important because you might have a bug that is affecting all users on the same hardware and reporting this bug can help developers solve this issue and help all ThinkPad T61p users. So become a hero for all ThinkPad users ^^.

comment Meeting My Video editor needs
I was going to mention kdenlive, even on some other similar questions about a month ago, but till this day, kdenlive fails to start, if it does, it has a huge potential on crashing and if I do get to put everything together to the transcode the video, it crashes. I know if offers many features, but I rather stick with something stable, in my case with an Intel i7, 32GB of RAM it should not have an excuse to crash but still does. So I don't mention anything about it to others until I fee it is stable enough.

comment smbtree produces no output
I would first try to start from a clean Samba configuration file. At the moment I do not have an idea (Working on something else) but my suggestion would be that. It can simplify where the problem is appearing when you tested this.

comment How do Ubuntu flavors compare regarding resource consumption and performance?
@Insperatus the question was pointed to the original comparison between versions since it still takes into consideration the information you are asking. I have removed the bounty you added. If you wish to use it, you can do it on the duplicate question. Sorry for the trouble.

same thoughts for a couple of my answers LOL. I think they confuse "very bad answer" with "missing some additional information".. or they don't know they can comment on how to improve the answer.

comment How do Ubuntu flavors compare regarding resource consumption and performance?
Curious that this question came up exactly at this time. I am doing a pretty long test on all 8 flavors of Ubuntu. From resource usage, to desktop and more, with the intention of helping out new users decide which one helps the most.
