Move OS to another computer I think most standard hardware will work. I have done this on several occasions without problems. |

Is Dell Inspiron 15R Special Edition compatible with Ubuntu? Scrolling works for me with a patch. See this bug report: bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/606238 |

My ATI graphics card gets very hot and Ubuntu freezes What model is it? Is it normally supposed to have a fan? Either way, I would consider installing some fans in the case itself. It really helps keep the temperature down. Try to get air flowing around the graphics card. |

Is my computer compatible with Ubuntu 12.10 64-bits? Of course, you can usually find out somehow if your CPU is 64-bit compatible or not. My point is simply that, if you are the least bit uncertain, there is absolutely no harm in trying the 64-bit version. |

Is there an easy way to set up a home FTP server? What exactly do you mean by "finding an app"? If you're trying to use software center, that won't work. Run the command above in a terminal. |

Is there an easy way to set up a home FTP server? Yes, it should work just fine. I've never used Windows 8, but I don't see any reason why it would be a problem. |

Fresh install 12.04 from 11.04 can't log in I mean that if there is no content in your home directory, your account will be treated like it was just created. This should make it possible to login, and then salvage what files you actually need. If you do not copy any hidden files (.*) from your old home directory, it's very unlikely that it will fail. |

'Gnome Classic' launches unity instead I already use CCSM, so disabling the Unity Plugin was very quick and easy. Thanks for providing such a simple solution! |

How to use firefox sync? That's too bad. If you feel like taking another stab at it, typing "about:sync-log" into the address bar should display the log directory. You should see something like "1349086607927 Sync.Engine.Bookmarks DEBUG Engine initialized" in the files. The leftmost number is a Unix timestamp that you can convert with a tool like this one: epochconverter.com |

Truly Quiet Deja Dup In that case I think you may be out of luck. I was thinking about a "-quiet" switch as in a command line: "deja-dup -quiet". |
