Recommendations for Stock Trading and Investment Applications? Actually I doubt that there is a decent stock trading application available for Linux. I recommend you VMWare/VirtualBox with MetaTrader or something. |

Upgrading Ubuntu 7.10 Server (Gutsy) Thank you for your answer, I think I will go with the upgrade to 8.04 then. I remember the LVM/RAID configuration (and some other configurations) to be very tedious and the down time should be low. Besides, upgrading to 8.04 will give me some time for consolidations, I'll then soon upgrade to 10.04 if everythings works fine. |

How to understand the Audio Subsystem? Thanks a lot for your detailed answer and your help. I didn't assume that many audio bugs have a low-level root. And yes, I remember that I "solved" my Ubuntu 8.04 audio problems by removing pulseaudio. I'll check out your presentation and your links and contact you soon on launchpad. |

How to understand the Audio Subsystem? I guess I am last able to answer the latter question, both ALSA and and PulseAudio are really complex softwares. If I see it correctly both installed in parallel are mostly redundant. An "ALSA light" would be nice with all those redundant plugins removed, like "null" or "dmix"... |
