Where are the emblems coming from on the default folders? The part about xdg-user-dirs answered the question. |

Is there a way to tell Nautilus not to generate previews of PDF files? Until these bugs are fixed: rm -r ~/.thumbnails && ln -s /dev/null .thumbnails |

Is there a way to tell Nautilus not to generate previews of PDF files? In case you want to disable previews in general: gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.thumbnailers disable-all true should work, but it doesn't! Nautilus handles it according to it's own settings and eog ignores gsettings as well. |

Fixed columns' width in Nautilus +1 if this could be solved for 12.04 as well! Someone inclined to open a bug/feature-request for the Nautilus devs? |

Fixed columns' width in Nautilus Confirmed for 12.04: doesn't work, even crashed my Nautilus. So I removed the key again... |

Best way to configure poweroff keyboard shortcut So there's no way to replicate behaviour of Xfce, Windows, et al. Well, thanks anyway --acepted as best answer. |

Where are the emblems coming from on the default folders? You, as everyone here, is right: I was confusing emblems with folder-specific icons here. But: let me rephrase my question: Why does, for example, Nautilus know that it has to apply a special icon for these directories? Is there some flag on the actual dir, a metadata field in GVFS or is this hard-coded into Nautilus? |

Best way to configure poweroff keyboard shortcut Well, that works, but it tells me "this shortcut is already in use and setting a new command would overwrite the current" (which is close-window for alt+f4) .. Is there a way to have it hierarchical, as in Xfce etc., so it only triggers the session-quit when no windows are opened? Else: Accepted answer! |
