comment Can't uninstall old kernel
I never tried that, but the man page mentions a parameter named -m aka --ignore-missing. So you could try sudo apt-get purge -m linux-image-3.2.0-29-generic-pae. The error message looks like you already tried to update, and that partly started but then broke due to lack of free space, so apt now sees some "inconsistent state". Having it ignore that might enable you to remove that package. However, make sure you have at least one working linux-image left, or your system might break completely (3.2.0-32 could still be there I guess).

comment Does Evolution have 'zoom text' feature?
Unfortunately not, I've checked that as well and could not find any clue there. All that's left for things like that are little "desktop helper" like xmag or wmagnify IMHO.

comment Any way to “play to” tv from ubuntu (not a media server)
For me, MiniDLNA failed with most videos (e.g. avi/divx). Serviio somehow works (see minidlna and samsung tv file format doesn't support for details). But still, I'd like to have a possibility to "beam my screen" to the TV (e.g. show what's in the browser, or some presentation, etc.), like if it was another "cloned screen".

comment minidlna and samsung tv file format doesn't support
For me, it worked fine with pictures − but completely failed with video. They were listed fine, but trying to play them always resulted in an error for "unsupported format". Didn't you have that issue? // What really killed the cat was miniDLNA completely filling the disk with an almost 50 GB log while opening "too many http connections" and complaining about that failure :(

Out of the box? Including .avi etc. on your TV? Would you mind to post an answer with steps you've taken, and how well it works with different formats?

comment Evolution data migration (on update) missed all but the first “accounts” (mail, addressbook, calendar…)
If you sort out duplicate mail addresses: Is your script aware of "lists"? One could have a) multiple lists with overlapping participants, or b) have full records of people who are additionally part of lists. Just a remark, as it might not affect everybody :) Apart from that: Thanks for sharing your solution!

comment How do I disable overlay scrollbars?
Careful with the single >, it will cause the file to be overwritten if it already exists (and thus destroy all previous changes). Better use >> instead to append the new setting.

comment How do I disable overlay scrollbars?
While this seems to have no effect for me (Ubuntu 12.04 with LXDE -- and yes, X was restarted after that change), Erigami's variant worked excellent. Just as a hint to try the other if one doesn't work :)

comment MySQL server not accessible from remote machine
@dino No longer. I fixed that and also included an excerpt, so if it dies again the steps required are still here. My bad I didn't do so from the beginning -- but as you can see from the timestamp, that was one of my early answers. We all learn :)
