comment How do I change my default browser?
Got your point, Adrian – just sitting in the same boat. Still, that didn't solve it for me. What solved it, was this answer. But that might be due to the fact I'm using LXDE as desktop.

I could also think of the integrated Bayes filter. To narrow it down, you could disable all filters in edit › accounts › receive and reset (plus uncheck) the "unwanted" folder in presets. The "reset" should take care for the Bayes stuff; I'm not sure how to completely deactivate that (the filter part should do that, though).

comment How to install Intrusion Detection system in Ubuntu 12.04
Well, you might at least rawly point out what it includes (maybe with some Wikipedia links to those products – I've only found Aanval there) plus a few words – I mean, Snort is widely known, the others I've not even heard of before), if it requires 5 years IT studies to deal with... So one knows at least what to expect and, if the page disappears one day, has some idea what to google for ;)

Whilst this may theoretically answer the question, it would be preferable to include the essential parts of the answer here, and provide the link for reference.

comment How to remove typed-in URLs from browser history in Firefox?
Thanks for your answer, Jacques – but I don't want to disable auto-suggest completely. My goal was just to keep some URLs from being included here.

comment Restoring Evolution email data files after upgrade
The ~/.config/evolution location is not the only one to consider here. For reference, please take a look at Copying Evolution emails from Ubuntu 10.10 to 12.10, Restore an evolution file, and also other questions containing 'evolution migration'.

comment Evolution: How to change default sort criteria in address book?
No need (feeling stupid). Switch back to "card view", and the problem is still there. So if your question rather is concerning "card view", it's still open and valid.

comment Disabling Zeitgeist
@Seth I can't say for 14.04 as I'm not using that (the one Ubuntu machine left with me is still on 12.04, for the others I've switched to Debian or Mint). Recommend to ping Lucas for this (see upvoted comment above), as he's confirming it for 14.04.

Exactly my intention: show a way that can easily be "reverted", while minimizing impact on the system :)

comment Correct password is not accepted for Evolution
Apart from what Anders pointed out in his answer, could it be you've got some "special characters" in your password? I've had a similar issue when setting up Evolution to work with my ownCloud account while having a $ in my password. Changing my password to a different one not including that solved the problem for me.
