I am three things

  • Ubuntu MOTU/CLI developer
  • Debian developer
  • Canonical Ubuntu desktop team member

My Ubuntu expertise is in packaging, specifically packaging of CLI (Mono) applications and libraries, and Haskell applications and libraries. I am also a member of the Developer Membership Board, which is responsible for approving new developers into the project, as well as the being on the Release Team and being an Ubuntu Backporter.

At work I work on the Ubuntu desktop for Canonical.

In a former life, I worked on type theory and dependently typed functional programming. Thus I am very familiar with the languages Haskell, OCaml and Agda.

comment How do I get an UbuntuShape to transition (fade) between different images?
There's a CrossFadeImage component now that can be used (with some tricks) inside an UbuntuShape. See: bazaar.launchpad.net/~system-settings-touch/…

comment Is it mandatory to provide sources along with the toolchain binaries, or can they be provided on request basis
Yeah; that's true, but be aware that anybody who receives a written copy would be able to distribute it themselves, so you can't really limit distribution by doing this. What are you trying to achieve by not offering the source for download alongside the binaries? I think it's likely to not prove that productive in the long run.

It's generally a program that you use from the terminal. Any detailed usage instructions are probably out of scope for this question. :-)

It looks like you can't set opacity on the Image but rather have to do it on the root UbuntuShape object. I'm trying various pokages there now. Help still welcomed!
