I love solving problems and making people's day. I also enjoy mentoring and volunteer regularly on the Rails Hotline. Ruby on Rails has been my development framework of choice since 2007, but I also love working in Javascript, doing Linux sysadmin, and tinkering with things like IPv6 and GPG. I aim to regularly make meaningful contributions to the free open source software community.

comment Is the iPod nano (5th generation) compatible with Ubuntu?
Cool - it should definitely work. I just linked to the site for the specific library that provides that 5g support.

comment How to run applications in x from ssh?
It is possible to run VNC on a server that doesn't already have X running, but running VNC /is/ running a separate X server and has all the overhead associated with that, except that you can bring it up and kill it when you're done to free the resources. Since with X forwarding you're not running a window manager, there's relatively no resource overhead overhead compared with running X or VNC.

comment Multiparty video conferencing between Linux/Windows?
Yeah - the state of multiparty videoconferencing isn't great yet unfortunately.

comment How do I upgrade to Postgres 9.2?
This is just wrong. He's asking how to upgrade, not to connect to a 9.2 cluster.
