I prefer usually challenging questions, while I may spend some time on easier ones trying to explain something that used to be difficult for me.

My preference goes to algorithms, and C, a language that I've liked and known for a long time, while I like also to visit server fault and its many interesting and challenging system, DB, nginx, ... questions and answers.

Linux has been my working environment for almost 10 years. And a (few) Mac for leisure.

@GregoryMathiew apt-cache search exfat gives only exfat-fuse and exfat-utils.

Change the mirror - ph is probably for Philippines, try jp or kr for instance.

comment SANE Support for Canon LiDE 220?
Same problem here. Could not have it work with Ubuntu 14.04. Tried to play around with the source code to add the 220, but the 210 previous device seems to be too different.

Installing libglib2.0-dev only would add much less packages ;-)

comment how can I change file association globally?
This is actually the more natural answer (from the GUI and without manually writing text files or installing 3rd party stuff). It requires a one type at a time setup, though, since Ubuntu does not offer a Open With in a multiple selection -> Properties.

comment Which PDF Viewer would you recommend?
That's right, but if you have or plan to have other KDE apps (and there are good ones) they will be needed anyway. And okular is so much better than evince (what cannot be?) that it's worth it!
