@piyush Will that not only allow apt-get to access the web though..? If he wants to be able to access web with anything else he needs to enter it into /etc/bash.bashrc

Also just to confirm are you using 12.04 because it doesn't support resolv.conf any more. The changes just get overwritten.

You could add in that ufw default policy should be drop then add your rules in as you go and app more apps. Always the best way.
