comment VB alternative/equivalent for development of Windows apps in Ubuntu
As said, no offense intended (well, the copy-paste from the site made me wonder if someone from marketing was at work here). What can you say about the strengths of real studio? RAD for C / C++ would be nice.

Real Studio is commercial and quite expensive. Do you by chance have any connection with them? I ask because your post sounds like marketing talk to me and is taken copy-paste from the company's site. No offense, but it's always good to be clear about any commercial interest involved.

comment How can I permanently save a password-protected SSH key?
yes, you have to provide the password once per session. This is the whole idea behind password protected ssh keys, to provide another layer of security beyond being able to access the private key file after login.

Telling people to copy their public key over the authorized_keys on a remote machine is a bit brute force... Much better is to used the ssh-copy-id user@remotemachine command, which will as for a password login the first time and then APPEND not overwrite the key.

comment Connecting to SSH/RDP/VNC through one machine?
On windows machines, you can do the same thing with putty: - start an ssh connection to the rdpserver - run the vnc/rdp viewer to localhost There are vncviewers that combine both, also iSSH on the ipad has that function.
