Is there a performance difference between running .NET applications via Mono and running them via the .NET framework on WINE? Wine Is Not an Emulator. It implements Windows API Functions natively under linux, often running faster than on Windows. So, I would expect very similar performance but of course your mileage may vary depending on the underlying system and depending on the implementation of the runtime engine. |

How do I move my LVM 250 GB root partition to a new 120GB hard disk? Ah, that's nice voting down a valid accepted post with helpful information. I intentionally did NOT give a concrete example, because the danger is that someone will mindlessly copy-paste that and destroy his/her data. If you do anything with lvm, you should be able to find you bearing with the pointers i give. |

Is there a way to get a separate desktop/Gnome terminal for each user logged in through VNC? Ltsp is Good, but wie did not intend to replace our Windows desktops, just give some users graphical accesss to a Linux server. With a powerful machine, this works very well. |

How to sudo visudo without a password, remove all prompts for password I second that. Having to enter your password, which is however slightly different on all systems prevents you from inadverently issuing a command on the wrong system! |

How do I shrink the root logical volume (LV) on LVM? your assumption is not correct. Online resizing (while partition is mounted and used) of ext3/ext4 partitions has been around for a long time. I use this a lot, and have never had a single problem with it. And yes, I have current backups all the time. |
