Pardon me but how do I restart guake? exiting and reopening guake with <kbd>F12</kbd> did not work (the setting did not change). Is there an option other than killing the guake process?

Ah... I'm using guake at the moment which doesn't have a menu bar. But yes this would work on the default terminal.

An additional note. I am able to use the internet quite fine right now, streaming songs and downloading and web surfing and working all at once like there's no tomorrow. The problem arises when other people are on the network (it is night right now and I'm alone) - that's when, in the competition for signal, my laptop always seems to come last.

I had put in: options iwlwifi 11n_disable=1 into the file, @chili555. I got it from here.
