comment How can I symlink a subdirectory of /usr/share/ca-certificates?
@ThomasW. Ah, okay, sorry! Yes, copying the directory to /usr/share/ca-certificates works just fine.

@ThomasW., the whole point is to store the directory on the RAID array, so I'd rather avoid that solution if at all possible.

@remyseroos, this is surprising since there are two directories in /usr/share/ca-certificates/extra: mozilla and spi-inc.org. I've also seen several tutorials that recommend creating an extra directory for self-signed certs.

@markkirby, wonderful! Thanks!

@markkirby, no problem! Unfortunately, I get exactly the same behavior when moving /boot/vmlinuz-3.13.0-43-generic :/

@markkirby, ah okay, I was confused since you wrote initrd.img-3.13.0-45-generic rather than ...43-generic. That said, I've tried moving initrd.img-3.13.0-43-generic and re-running my command and I'm getting identical output. Further, I don't see any file called linux-image-extra-3.13.0-43-generic in /boot

@markkirby, okay I've moved initrd.img-3.13.0-54-generic to another directory and rerun my command. I'm getting identical output. I've also tried this with ...43-generic, but no dice.

@markkirby, just to be clear, did you mean 3.13.0-54-generic ?

@markkirby, my current kernel is 3.13.0-54-generic. I would be perfectly fine downgrading to 3.13.0-43-generic if that solved my issue.

comment Is there a way to get notifications from StackExchange sites in the mail indicator applet?
@xangua, I did, in fact, add the PPA. I'll try again, though.

@xangua, unfortunately stackapplet does not integrate into the mail indicator applet (minor gripe, I admit) and also doesn't seem to work. I am unable to add users, sites or even search for users in their web configuration page :/

comment How do I export a variable to the `sh` shell?
@muru, that's not obvious to everyone, though. This question has the merit of being explicit and narrower in scope.

Edit: I got impatient and logged out/in. Works like a charm. Thanks again!
