comment What's wrong with using sudo?
That risk can be mitigated by using the tty_tickets option in sudoers and sudo --remove-timestamp.

comment Repair more than 3500 bad blocks in 160 Gb samsung HDD using ubuntu 12.04
@Krunal: 0. When the disc reports bad sectors (you should use smart), it has already silently remapped bad blocks and has exceeded it's internal store of spare blocks.

comment Is there a good way to extract font and color info from a PDF?
There are commercial tools for this for use with Adobe Acrobat, but they don't work on Linux. Here you can try e.g. pdffonts.

comment dvips: How to get correct fonts for eps (encapsulated postscript)?

comment I have 16GB RAM. Do I need 32GB swap?
If your systems use 31GB swap and you need the last GB, they will probably be very sloooow. IMHO if you constantly need more than 2GB swap you should install more RAM.

comment Problems related with Texlive 2013 Installation
You have TL2009. Either stick with the version from Ubuntu or use vanilla TL2013. And please file a bug report against Ubuntu about this old TL.

You don't tell us how you installed TL. But see the section "Post-install: setting PATH" at tug.org/texlive/quickinstall.html

@m0nhawk: That provides only TL2012, not TL2013.
