comment SSH Connection Error: No route to host
I seem to have this error after I forgot to close an SSH session. When I close my laptop with an SSH session open, it hangs when I open it again some time later, when I try to setup a new connection, I got No route to host. Sometimes I get a connection timed out as well. After waiting for a long time, it works fine again...

And are wildcards on the IdentityFile allowed as well? E.g. for adding another directory with keys.

Can I use wildcards for the Host? Like *.dept.myuni.org?

comment Why doesn't Ubuntu automatically disable wireless networking when a wired connection is active?
Ubuntu doesn't do load balancing itself and I think very little applications do it themselves either; VPN usage is not the default use case. So at least the Ubuntu settings should allow for this as a setting, and in my opinion disabling wireless when wired should be default. What's the reason they don't have this as an option? I'll change my question to this.

comment How to give Wine / Crossover games access to LAN?
None of the answers fixed my problem, that's why I did not give out the bounty. The site handed the half out itself because I started it. I'm still waiting for a solution, in fact.

comment Are the newly launched NVIDIA drivers supported in Ubuntu or will they be?
Does enabling "proposed" updates automatically opts me in for pre-released updates on all packages I'm using? I only want the -310 driver, I don't want my Ubuntu installation to be completely bleeding edge :)

Is there a difference between nvidia-experimental-310 and nvidia-experimental-304, because 304 is showing up in my Driver section.

comment Installing additional drivers resulted in command line interface
I was considering installing the new NVIDIA driver as well, but seemingly that's not a good idea...

This indeed only works for Firefox. Anyone able to rewrite this for multiple-browser support?

This probably changed for Unity. My system cannot find gdm.

Yeah, sorry, I found it like 10 minutes after I asked.

@Andy C. is there a way to do the same for my mouse?

comment Two bugs with Keyboard Shortcuts: confirmation and/or solutions requested
In Mac Ctrl-W is a built-in shortcut for closing windows in an app while Ctrl-Q is also built-in for closing whole apps.

In fact, only few applications use the Ctrl-W shortcut. They all seem to require Ctrl-Q to close windows. And it's no problem that those shortcuts are overridden by some applications, those mostly already use them in the way I want, as you state. F.e. VLC player requires Ctrl-Q to close a video window (also when >=2 are present). Terminal doesn't react to either of them.

I had Caffeine installed but didn't see you had to activate it to let it work. Thanks!

comment Remove or hide magazines from the Software Center
I saw both of the question you mention, @Aras and StephenMyall. Sadly they are not what I look for. Commercial apps are a different matter than magazines. And the big banner doesn't bother me since it usually contains an ad for a program and no magazine.

@vasa1 because a "Software Center" should not contain magazines imo.

@StephenMyall I edited my question. I run 12.04 now and will update as soon as new versions are available.
